Game two was another beating – kinda, and the Rockets were on the wrong side of it this time falling to the Spurs 121-96.
The Spurs decided to double down on going big and pulled David Lee in favor of starting Pau Gasol. That decision would turn out to be aces for Gregg Popovich as he was rewarded with a 47-32 rebound advantage.
The Rockets for three-quarters hung in with the Spurs and despite James Harden having an off night with only 13 points, the game was 88-83.
What turned the game was the massive 30-5 run the Spurs went on to start the fourth quarter, the Rockets had no answer and before they knew it the game was 118-88, it was over from there.
The hot shooting the Rockets enjoyed in game one with 22 made threes, it did not carry over in game two as they only were able to make 11.
